With President Barack Obama leveraging celebrities like former “Sex and the City” star Sarah Jessica Parker and Vogue magazine editor Anna Wintour to raise money for his re-election bid, the president has opened himself up to criticism and mockery — including the title “Barack Hussein Kardashian.”
Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh said on his Tuesday show that the Obama campaign sees an upside in using celebrities’ “strong drawing power” as an alternative to talking about substantive campaign issues.
“This is Celebrity of the United States kind of stuff,”
“He’s becoming ‘Barack Kardashian,’” Limbaugh continued. “I tell you that’s what’s become of him. He is becoming the male Kim Kardashian with this stuff and it has been building. He is Celebrity of the United States. He is not the president. And he is actively — and his whole team is out there pushing this. It’s ‘Barack Hussein Kardashian,’ is what he has become.”
“I’m just telling you, this is not mass-appeal stuff,” Limbaugh added. “This is not — [It's] pop culture. This is pure pop culture and where they think their strength lies, in sure BANAL IDIOCY .”
